In episode #058, Samantha Caesar-Johnson shares her story of recurrent miscarriage during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her first pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks. She decided to get a D & C, but she contracted COVID-19 and had to push her date a few weeks. While quarantining from her husband, she began to naturally miscarry at home. Ultimately, she still had to have the procedure, as it was not a complete natural miscarriage.
When she got pregnant again a couple months later, she experienced another miscarriage. This prompted Samantha and her husband to seek genetic and fertility testing, all of which came back normal. Testing after her miscarriage revealed that Samantha may have had low progesterone, and she is still awaiting some results. Samantha hopes her story can make a difference for others who may be going through similar circumstances.
Topics Discussed: Missed miscarriage, recurrent miscarriage, recurrent pregnancy loss, COVID-19 diagnosis, miscarriage during COVID-19, miscarriage during quarantine, dilation and curettage (D & C), low progesterone, intimacy after pregnancy loss, vaginismus, genetic testing, fertility testing.
