In episode #101, Meg Kant shares her personal story of loss. She lost her first son, Zennon, at 4.5 months pregnant. Meg is the COO of bebo mia, an online global maternal support training organization. She has an honors degree in psychology, and she is a certified fertility, birth, and postpartum doula. Meg specializes in working with pregnant people who have a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (PMAD) as well as with parents who have experienced a previous loss.
We discuss an often unexpected result of miscarriage: jealousy. Jealousy frequently shows up after pregnancy loss, and there is so much shame and guilt around it. In our conversation, Meg talks about why jealousy and resentment are normal emotions to feel in these situations. She also shares how to handle these feelings without beating ourselves up. Meg found out one of her closest friends was pregnant a month after her loss, and she walks us through how she navigated that experience.
Topics Discussed: jealousy after pregnancy loss, resentment of others’ pregnancies or babies, pregnancy loss in the second trimester, handling feelings of shame and guilt after miscarriage
